Saturday School

SATURDAY SCHOOL

Saturday School has been a beloved Memphis tradition for 75 years. Many of our current students have parents or grandparents who attended the program as children.

Building a love of art for a lifetime begins here at MCA. We recognize that engagement with art nurtures creative thinking, provides an outlet for self-expression, strengthens self-confidence and helps develop an appreciation for the world outside ourselves.

Class sizes are small by design, allowing for individualized attention to each student’s unique skills and abilities. We offer qualified teaching artists, inspiring media and excellent facilities. As the only independent, fully accredited professional art and design institution in Memphis, we are uniquely qualified to guide your children, nurturing in them a love for the arts and an appreciation for lifelong learning.

The class will focus on the basics while fostering a fun and creative atmosphere for learning.

3-D Discovery
Creating sculptural artwork is fun and challenging. Children design and create their own 3-dimensional works of art exploring various sculpture media and methods. Mixed Media Murals
Have you ever wanted to paint a large mural painting like those that you would see on walls of bank buildings or doors, or even ceilings. Inspired by Marc Chagall’s Dream Paintings and Diego Rivera’s social art, you will create large magical landscapes, and/or colorful underwater ocean scenes using a grid matrix method and mixed media collage.
