Memphis College of Art Awards 2012 Summer Camp Scholarships

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis College of Art’s Community Education department is proud to announce the 2012 Summer Camp scholarship recipients. The following Memphis-area students have received either half-day or full-day, one-week summer camp scholarships, enabling the students to study a wide variety of visual arts disciplines in a hands-on learning environment.

Full-Day Recipients

Five half-day, one-week scholarships were provided by community partner ServiceMaster by Stratos, which has awarded three scholarships to employees’ children (Allard and CiFuentes) and will provide three to the community at large.

“Providing cultural experiences for our employees and their families is one way that we, as an organization, have executed one of our top corporate objectives—to help others develop,” said Stacy L. McCall, president and CEO, ServiceMaster by Stratos. “We offer scholarships to children within our company and in our community to attend the Memphis College of Art Summer Camp Program as another opportunity to encourage interest in the arts. We feel it is our responsibility to make a difference not only in our employees’ lives, but also in the lives of those that they support each and every day.”

“MCA is overjoyed to welcome these talented young artists into this summer’s camp,” said Cecilia Palazola, director of community education at Memphis College of Art. “I am always amazed and inspired by the work that is submitted during the scholarship application process—it’s clear that Memphis has a wealth of budding young artists.”
