Sorrows of War
Feb. 16 – March 24
Reception Thursday, Feb. 21, 5–7 p.m.
When most Americans are far removed from any actual armed conflict, when Hollywood so often glamorizes & portrays war as heroic and video games of war are ubiquitous and at times glorified, how can we understand the consequences of war to individual human beings, to their families and to society as a whole?
How can a society understand the true costs of war to those caught up in a conflict, be they soldiers or civilians? We witness a virtual war on the news, but how can we truly understand the reality of these events? How can we understand that every casualty of war—whether the injury is visible or not—every death means suffering for the individual and for those who know them.
This collection of works of art is an attempt to bring attention to the personal cost of war.
