Artist Statement: Don’t you know? Pink, frilly things are reserved for females and females only. Welcome to the Princess Cult. The abundance of the traditionally girly adornments is meant to make an ironic statement about femininity and how it is commonly defined within society. These pieces extrapolate this sentiment to the highest extent, overwhelming the viewer with pink and sparkly objects, challenging them to reevaluate their perspective. In a modern world where gender is now seen as fluid and something to be defined by individuals, are pink, sparkly things truly representative of what is known as the ‘fairer’ sex? Are women ever able to escape the Princess Cult?
