MCA Graduate Carolina Salcedo Named as Winner of Library Card Design Contest
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Recent MCA graduate Carolina Salcedo was named as the winner of the Memphis Public Library and Information Center’s special edition library card design contest in a special unveiling today at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library. Calling a library card “the most important school supply,” Director of Libraries Keenon McCloy kicked off National Library Card Sign–up Month and introduced Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dorsey Hopson, who will serve as honorary chair for this year’s National Library Card Sign-up Month.
Salcedo’s winning entry was selected from among five MCA student finalists: Jefferson Muncy, Salcedo, Terri Scott, Jessica Vandenberg and Mary Weber. The final designs were voted on by both library employees and the general public. The special edition Library cards will be available beginning Sept. 15. Readers who do not have a library card may get one for free.
