MCA Announces Feb. 8 Weekend Workshop

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis College of Art will hold the first of two Weekend Workshops on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The workshops are designed for high school seniors and transfer students who are applying to MCA. Parents and area art teachers are also welcome to attend.

During the day-long event, prospective students have an opportunity to choose from a selection of studio classes taught by MCA faculty. “We want the students to have the chance to experience the facilities, feel the energy of the environment and create art,” said Susan Miller, MCA’s vice president for enrollment and student affairs. “By participating in the classes they will really be able to imagine what it would be like to be a student here at MCA.”

In addition to classes, faculty members will offer portfolio reviews, providing constructive criticism to enhance students’ work and portfolios. Information about career paths and opportunities in the arts will also be provided.
