February 13 – April 18
Every Wednesday of the school year, from September to May, a group of MCA students dedicate their lunch break to draw at the Memphis Zoo. There are no obligations or commitments required to join in, except to collectively sketch and observe. The Zoodles group makes 30 trips to the zoo a year, and had 40 students participating over the 2016 fall term. They sketch at every venue and in every type of weather. Scanning the sketchbooks to enormous proportions and viewing them at an exploded scale allows us to see these quick minute sketches in an entirely new way. This exhibit will be on view in the Rust Hall Lower Gallery from mid-February-April 18. A reception will take place on March 3 from 6-8 p.m.
Artists featured in this exhibit include:
Mary Ruth Pruitt
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.; and Sunday, noon–4 p.m. All MCA exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public.
**NOTE: Due to an event taking place in Rust Hall, Zoodles will NOT be open for view Friday, April 7– Sunday, April 9. The gallery will reopen to the public on Monday, April 10 at 10 a.m. We apologize for this inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding and patience.
