To Know Him Was to Love Him: Celebrating the Work of Kevin Mitchell (1967-2019)

On View: July 8 – August 4

Reception: July 10, 5:30-7:30pm

To Know Him Was to Love Him: Celebrating the Work of Kevin Mitchell (1967-2019) showcases works by the late Kevin Mitchell, Memphis College of Art alumnus (BFA ‘94, MFA ‘10) and faculty member. A native Alabamian, Kevin moved to Memphis in 1991, where his passion for teaching led him to be an instructor to hundreds of MCA students. His work as a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and mentor made a lasting impact on both MCA and the greater Memphis community. Kevin’s works often feature perceived contradictions that manifest via colors, textures, forms, and iconography. To Know Him Was to Love Him will be on view from July 8 through August 4 in the Alumni Gallery in Memphis College of Art’s Rust Hall. A reception will be held Wednesday, July 10, from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
