Which items will be sold via auction?
Of the over 500 works, there will be three works sold via live auction and sixteen works sold via silent auction on Saturday, January 25. The rest of the collection will be displayed throughout our galleries for buyers to pick up and purchase. The auction works can be viewed here in the auction catalog.

What are the price ranges of the works being sold?
While the auction items are higher-end pieces ranging up to thousands of dollars, the vast majority of the works are reasonably priced starting at $20. Only a small group of approximately 50 works are priced at $500 or above. So the sale is a great opportunity for buyers to own a unique piece at an affordable price.

Is there any cost to attend the event?
No, the event is free and open to the public on all days, including Saturday evening’s Opening Reception and Auction.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Do I have to be present to bid on the live or silent auction items?
Yes, you, or a representative, must be present at the time of the live auction to bid. You may bid on a silent auction item at any time from 6:00 – 8:30pm and do not have to be present when the silent auction ends at 8:30pm. If you are the highest bidder, we will contact you.

I was a student and left artwork at the college or gave artwork to the college. Can I get my artwork back prior to the sale?
The Student Handbook states that “The college will consider anything a student leaves behind as abandoned and it will become Memphis College of Art property.” All artwork left or given by students of the college is MCA property and will not be returned.

I am not a previous student or an alumnus/a, but you own my artwork and I want to see it before the sale. Is that possible?
Unfortunately, no, we cannot allow individuals to view the artwork prior to the sale.

Are organizations or individuals allowed to view the art collection prior to the Opening Reception?
