About

Memphis College of Art offers two MFAs: MFA in Studio Art and MFA in Photography.  Both are two-year programs, considered the terminal degree for the studio disciplines. They allow students to develop the critical and conceptual structure of their work with the support of advisors and elective studio and criticism classes.

All MFA students are provided a 240-square-foot studio in our Nesin Graduate School in the South Main Arts District of Memphis. This historic building was renovated three years ago and hosts a state-of-the-art computer lab with large-format printer, private graduate studios and a woodshop.

MFA students receive an average scholarship of 40% that is based on the portfolio and application credentials submitted during the application process.  In addition to those scholarships, MCA has a limited number of fellowships that will allow students to work for the college and receive tuition remission.  A Teaching Assistantship program allows students to be the instructor of record in an undergraduate course.
