The Admissions Counselor has a key role with in developing partnerships with prospective students to assist in their successful transition into college.  Additionally, the Admissions Counselor ensures growth of traditional freshman programs within an assigned territory by facilitating varied recruitment activities designed to attract and enroll new students.  This position will support the College’s admissions enrollment plan for prospective students by meeting and exceeding expectations.


  • Enrollment:  Passion and belief system that the student comes first. Providing incomparable customer service by building strong relationships with students and their support systems. Focused on consistently delivering an exceptional student experience. Assist prospective students and applicants with admissions requirements and other pre-admissions academic advising including financial aid and transfer guidelines, where applicable; prepare and distribute information and application packets for prospective students and parents and be proactive about following up to meet and exceed enrollment expectations.
  • Recruiting:  Develop and maintain working relationships with assigned markets whether public schools, community colleges, or businesses through the use of visitation programs, electronic communications, presentations and promotional events; coordinate with other admissions counselors in conducting student events which will educate prospective students and other constituents about the college and programs. Adheres to contact, follow up and retention strategies through the student progression policies.
  • Support:  Support enrollment goals by assisting the admissions team in communicating latest enrollment trends and identifying new enrollment strategies. Accurately inputs information into CRM system with special attention to compliance procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree is required (or equivalent experience)
  • 1- 5 years experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of CRM prospect tracking and contact reporting system preferred
  • Ability to foster teamwork, work cooperatively and effectively with others on goals setting, problem resolution and decision making
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress and track results
  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of print, web and social media platforms
  • Ability to interpret and abide by MCA’s values, mission, policies and procedures


  • Statewide travel up to 60% of the time, including some weekends and evenings
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
  • Must be ability to sit or stand at a computer 6 to 7 hours a day when in office

Position Opening for:


To teach and administer the Graduate Art Education Programs beginning August 1, 2015. This position offers the unique opportunity to teach in art education programs outside of a traditional university setting and requires the candidate to work closely with students, local school systems, the state department, and community partners in a diverse urban setting.

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach three graduate courses per semester including the graduate thesis course. Other courses could include methods, diversity, technology or survey courses specific to art education. Additional responsibilities include coordinating program, state, and federal evaluations and reports, participation in student recruitment and advising, program development, working with school and community partners, and participation in college committees. Candidates are also expected to maintain active memberships and participate in professional organizations.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a Doctorate in Art Education or related education field with experience in art (ABD considered with evidence of completion by time of hire). All candidates are required to have at least 3 years of K-12 teaching experience with a preference to those who have experience teaching art across a variety of grade levels. College level teaching experience and/or administrative experience (college or k-12) is preferred. Candidates should understand traditional and alternative licensing procedures.

Candidates should have proven leadership and organizational skills. Previous experience with program and student evaluation, and familiarity with Tennessee Teacher Preparation requirements is desirable.

Position Opening for:


Memphis College of Art seeks adjunct faculty to teach introductory-level and life drawing classes.  Drawing 1 and 2 are part of a rigorous Foundations program and based wholly on traditional drawing from observation.  Knowledge of linear perspective is necessary.  Drawing 1 is focused on line while Drawing 2 deals with value studies in a variety of materials and techniques.

Life Drawing is an upper-level course and involves line and value studies from the nude in a variety of materials and techniques.  The focus of this class is on the structure of the human figure through planar development and the convincing representation of the figure in space.

MFA preferred, BFA required.  Experience teaching is preferred.

Requirements: Terminal degree (EdD, or PhD) in either education or art education with a strong background in K-12 art instruction to meet SACSCOC, NCATE and Tennessee State Board of Examiner’s requirements. Candidates must be effective in communication; have strong organizational and writing skills, be willing to work in the evening and possibly in the summer months; and be open to evaluation and critique.
